Autologic are just down the road from the studio in Wheatley, so this was a quick journey! This was a good fun shoot with Autologic and my client, Catalyst who ordered the shoot. Corporate group shots are always good if there is a prop, and this time we had an Audi Q7 to use, plus the Autologic diagnostics computer. This was lit with two Canon Speedlights.

    Stagecoach ‘Gold’ S5 launch

    January 16, 2012 | Posted By: | Uncategorized |

What a beautiful day for photographs Saturday was! Lovely light, big blue sky… oh, to be a landscape photographer! Next best thing however is a nice PR Photography job, like this shoot for Stagecoach in Bicester. I’ve worked with the Stagecoach guys a few times now and they’re a great team. We had a lot of interest from the public in the new bus and the Gold Man, so good for pictures all the way, which should be good for marketing pictures or even hopefully local press, although it was a bit cold!

    Filming Heart Attack Surgery

    January 9, 2012 | Posted By: | Uncategorized |

Very interesting Thursday and Friday last week. I was based in the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth with the remarkable Cardiac team. My brief: to film a heart attack patient as he or she arrived and was treated by the Cardiac team. It’s amazing to be part of such a dedicated and highly skilled team of people and a privilege to film the patients progress. I was working with my old friend Jim, Head of Video at Oxford Medical Illustration. Having filmed many operations there’s not much that phases him, so it was good to have his support. Luckily I found the process of the operation much more interesting than worrying. Being on call was fun as well, although we did play on it a bit! So, here’s the specs for anybody interested technically: we were filming on a Sony EX1. My first time with one of these, but I’ve got to say it’s an excellent camera, and a Panasonic HVX 200 (lot’s of experience with these). We recorded to P2 and CF cards, and used a radio mic on the surgeon. The Sony stayed static during the ops, and the Panasonic roamed handheld. We filmed an interview with the surgeon afterwards in the theatre using Dados. Thanks to the Cardiac team for their patience and to the patients – hope they feel better soon. I’ll post a link as soon as the video is finished.

Event Photography for Reading Real Estate Foundation

    January 3, 2012 | Posted By: | Uncategorized |

An event photography job from the end of last year that I wanted to put in as a post. Reading Real Estate Foundation, part of The University of Reading hold their annual alumni dinner every year in The Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London. With 500 guests and 50 tables it’s a busy night for an event photographer, but enjoyable and rewarding. I wanted to show this as a post because event photography is not something that is immediately obvious in my photography portfolio as something I offer! I do and am very comfortable doing event photography!

    Staff Portraits

    January 3, 2012 | Posted By: | Uncategorized |

Happy New Year everyone! Thought I might show a couple of jobs that I did in December and didn’t have time to put up. Staff portraits for the great people of Bottle PR. I always enjoy staff portraits. It’s an area of corporate photography that is interesting and rewarding. Luckily I’ve been doing Bottle’s for quite a while now. I had a discussion with somebody over Christmas who told me he didn’t see the point in a professional photographer taking staff portraits. I know that digital photography makes taking pictures easy, but not necessarily portraits. I think that wised up companies such as Bottle do see the value of good staff portraits, especially in todays economic environment. It’s always going to set the right look and feel if it’s done by a professional photographer. Staff Portraits always look good in black and white as well!
